.46% of sidewalks in village of Rhinebeck have problems, study finds
RHINEBECK — Village trustees are reviewing recommendations in a study that has found 46 percent of village sidewalks deficient or damaged.
The findings are being reviewed simultaneously with budget discussions for a spending plan that begins June 1, but officials have said they expect fiscal constraints to prevent immediate work on the sidewalks. “Currently there is $1,000 allocated to sidewalks,” officials wrote. “The total operating budget is $2,160,463. Based on the county survey 18,250 feet of sidewalks are deficient and 7,090 feet are damaged.” Officials estimate that complete repairs would cost between $912,240 for concrete replacements and $2.03 million for “high end” bluestone replacements.
