Pilot’s body recovered; helicopter removes pieces of downed plane from Hudson River
State police divers recovered the body of Dr. Michael Faraldi from the cockpit of the vintage military jet that crashed yesterday into the icy waters of the Hudson River near the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge. Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Holly Baker said the body was removed around 3 p.m.
At a press conference this morning, state police said it was very difficult to access the front of the plane, which was in approximately 10 feet of water.
State police Capt. Patrick Regan told reporters this morning that divers were working at clearing the site so the plane could be lifted out.
