Dutchess County schools chiefs wary of tax cap

Tough choices lie ahead for school districts if a proposed statewide cap on property taxes becomes real, three school superintendents said at a panel discussion Thursday held by the Dutchess County Economic Development Corp.

“That’s the irony here,” said Joseph Phelan, superintendent of the Rhinebeck Central School District. “We know we’re going to have our aid cut.”
