Bye Bye Birdie
Winner of four 1961 Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, with a book by Michael Stewart, lyrics by Lee Adams, and music by Charles Strouse, Bye Bye Birdie centers on rock n’ roll superstar Conrad Birdie, who, to the dismay of his adoring fans, is about to be drafted into the army. Shades of Elvis and comedic complications arise when, as part of one last publicity stunt provoked by his agent, Birdie promises to give a good-bye kiss to one lucky girl from Sweet Apple, Ohio on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” Musical numbers “Put on a Happy Face,” “The Telephone Hour,” “How Lovely To Be a Woman,” and “A Lot of Livin’ To Do,” are sure to get your toes tapping. A CENTERstage production directed by AnnChris Warren with musical direction by Liz Toleno and choreography by Risa Petrone.
