Community Coalition to host a Parent Education and Awareness Forum. November 18th, 2010

Thursday, November 18th, 6:30-8:00PM

 Rhinebeck High School Auditorium

Drugs and alcohol pose a serious threat to the health and safety of our children and our community.  Highly addictive and potent drugs are easily accessible and many parents and teens are unaware of the risks associated with use and/or abuse.  The Community Coalition for Rhinebeck Youth is hosting a Parent Education and Awareness Forum.  The forum held in June was overwhelmingly well received and our goal is to continue the momentum of discussion surrounding this important issue.  Along with a panel of experts including specialists in the fields of medicine, psychiatry, prevention, rehabilitation, and law enforcement, we plan to dedicate the majority of the event to a panel discussion based on your questions and observations.  Some of the topics we anticipate include: what’s the big deal about a little pot or alcohol, pharmaceuticals, risks of experimentation, social hosting laws, and the trends of drug presence in our county and in our own community.  Please come to participate in the discussion, or come just to listen.  You will learn at least one new piece of information about this issue, which may help you in your role as parent / guardian, neighbor, or community member.

No one to watch the kids?  No Problem: Free Child Care available for children of attendees graciously provided by volunteer High School Students in the Gymnasium.  Free Pizza and homework help provided to children in Child Care.

We hope you’ll come: Please let us know you are planning to attend.  If you are interested in child care, simply let us know how many children and their ages.  RSVP to
