Rhinebeck Tree Planting Planned for Nov. 6

Plant a tree! The Rhinebeck Village Tree Commission is planning a tree planting along South Parsonage Street, and some other sites around the Village, on Saturday, November 6, 9 AM until 1 PM. Participants will meet at the Lion’s Club Mini-Park for a short tree planting lesson, and then go off in groups to plant the trees. Dress for the weather. Bring gloves and a shovel if possible. Everyone is invited. These are bare root trees which are lighter than balled and bur lapped trees, and the holes are pre-dug. Planting involves making the hole fit the tree, filling in the hole, staking and watering. There are several different jobs involved in planting so not everyone will need to shovel or do heavy work. Families are welcome! It is a great way to celebrate fall outdoors together. This is a chance to help make Rhinebeck beautiful. Please let us know if you can help by contacting tmac1337@gmail.com or 845-876-8841

The cost is $ 20.00 per person (children 12 and under are free). The proceeds from this dance are dedicated to the needy children and village of our sister city in Larreynaga, Nicaragua.

With the support received from the Church of the Messiah, our local communities and the monies raised from our annual fundraiser dance, our Sister City project,(which has been in existence since 1988), has been able to award 40 students from Kindergarten to 12th grade, with scholarships providing each of them with necessary school supplies and uniforms, award two graduating high school students with scholarship money to help fund tuition costs to attend the university and to also fund much needed projects.

Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling Vicki Rivera @ 845-876-3779 or by visiting our website at www.mhsistercity.org.   If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, any other special occasion etc, we would be more than happy to reserve a table for you!
