Police probe Northern Dutchess vehicle break-ins

RHINEBECK - State police are urging drivers to lock their vehicles and secure their valuables following a rash of car break-ins.

Investigator William Popow said there have been about six break-ins over the past two weeks. He said thieves have smashed car windows to steal valuables. In some cases, thieves stole items from unlocked cars.

 Police said the break-ins have occurred at Ferncliff Forest Preserve on Mount Rusten Road in Rhinebeck and Poet’s Walk Park on River Road in Red Hook.
