Rhinebeck school board mulls aid cut as it starts budget work
RHINEBECK — School district trustees on Tuesday began the 2010-11 budget process by reviewing a proposed $258,998 cut in aid under the budget presented by Gov. David Paterson for approval by state lawmakers.
The figures were discussed during a Board of Education meeting where Superintendent Joseph Phelan noted the figure represents a 7.54 percent decrease in operating aid and add about 1 percent to the tax levy.
Among questions district officials would like answered by state leaders is whether the aid figure includes federal stimulus funds.
“There is some level of confusion about that,” Phelan said.
