Rhinebeck school trustees

RHINEBECK — School trustees on Tuesday began reviewing steps to prioritize spending cuts likely to be made for the 2010-11 school year as state aid reductions are announced.

District Superintendent Joseph Phelan told Board of Education members that school administrators will be asked to return from the holiday break with proposals for cost reductions.

“By sometime early to mid-January, we’ll have each of the building principals and department heads … develop prioritized lists of things they would hold off on spending money on this year to make up whatever gap we may wind up having mid-year,” Phelan said.
