RHINEBECK – A Hyde Park man found himself in the creek Sunday, when the brakes on his minivan gave out as he was pulling into the Lion’s Club Mini Park.
Authorities said Peter Khan, 44, was pulling into the park at about 2:35 p.m. when the brakes on his 1998 Dodge Caravan malfunctioned. Unable to stop, the vehicle crossed a grassy portion of the park before coming to rest in the Landsman Kill.
The three adults and one child in the vehicle were able to get out on their own and without injury, and no vehicle fluids were released into the waterway.
The Rhinebeck Fired Department responded to the incident and the vehicle was removed from the creek by John’s Towing, police said.
No tickets were issued.
