Environmental rally will feature Seeger
Folk singer and activist Pete Seeger will be the guest speaker and performer Saturday at the second annual 350.org Rally for a Green New Deal.
The event will begin at noon at the Holy Light Pentecostal Church, 33 S. Clover St., Poughkeepsie, and will culminate with a 2 p.m. crossing of the Walkway Over the Hudson.
Also speaking will be Ned Sullivan, executive director of Scenic Hudson, and Tara Sullivan, executive director of the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial Commission, along with representatives of the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, the Cary Institute for Ecosystem Studies, the Bard College Center for Environmental Policy and local religious leaders.
The event is cosponsored by the Rhinebeck and Arlington high school environmental clubs, the Bard College Environmental Collective and Real Majority Project.
