The kindness of strangers:Fairgoers try to help patients who need bone marrow

RHINEBECK — Volunteers at the two Hope for Kai booths at the Dutchess County Fair had yet to get enough registrations to claim the most potential bone marrow donors on Friday, so they didn’t mind sounding like a broken record by repeating the simple instructions for a cheek swab to nearly 1,000 fairgoers as the weekend began.
