Rhinebeck village highway worker hurt in fall

RHINEBECK — Village police were investigating a Wednesday afternoon accident during which a 40-year-old village Highway Department worker fell off of a backhoe on Platt Avenue.

Sgt. Peter Dunn said the man, whom he would not identify but said lives in Elizaville, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie for treatment, and he did not believe his injuries were life-threatening.

The highway crew was moving their equipment from the area after performing routine road maintenance, said Dunn, but the details of the accident were still under investigation.
