3 nonprofits receive foundation grants
Grants totaling $8,420 were awarded to three Northern Dutchess nonprofit organizations from donor advised funds at the Community Foundation of Dutchess County.
Donor Advised Funds are an alternative to a private foundation, and are established by donors who wish to actively participate in the grant-making process by recommending charitable projects and/or organizations they want to support.
– The North East Community Center in Millerton received $3,000 for its Millerton Farmers Market.
A second grant of $2,750 will provide staff with intensive instruction in the Spanish language by the center’s Language Immersion Institute.
– The CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck received $1,670 for eight performances in spring as part of its Saturday Morning Family Series. The series incorporates children’s performers from the local area as well as renowned touring companies.
– Bard College in Annandale received $1,000 for a conference called “Why He Matters: A Bicentennial Conference on Abraham Lincoln.” The conference is scheduled for March 2009 and will feature several notable scholars.
