Fairgoers, make sure recyclables go in green cans

RHINEBECK – David Baldauf loves going to the Dutchess County Fair. But there is one image of the event that always sticks with him.

“I’d see pickup trucks loaded with disposable utensils and other trash,” said Baldauf, a Rhinebeck resident.

The fair generated nearly 97 tons of garbage last year.

This year, fairgoers will be introduced to a cleaner, greener fair when it opens Tuesday. The fair is showcasing its green initiative this year.
