Districts wary of new standards

While local educators applaud the state’s intent to maintain high academic standards – the state Education Department is launching a review of the standards public school students must meet in learning English – some are concerned about the cost to local school districts.

Rhinebeck schools Superintendent Joseph Phelan said changing the standards will mean modifying what is being taught to meet the new benchmarks.
