The Rhinebeck Town Board unanimously adopted a local law to extend a current moratorium during Monday night’s workshop meeting.

“The big picture is to stop development that would change the character of the town,” said Block earlier this month. “Extending the moratorium will prevent someone from coming in and building 900 units while we are still in the process of completing the comprehensive plan and amendments to the town’s zoning law.”

According to the board, adoption of the comprehensive plan will not take place until next spring at the earliest.
