Assessment review
– To be eligible for changes to their assessments this year, property owners must file complaints by the first day the boards of assessment review meet. In most communities, that day was Tuesday.- The boards are expected to rule on the grievances before each community sets its final assessment roll, by July 1.- Homeowners who still aren’t satisfied with the values then have 30 days to apply for judicial review. It costs $30 to apply through the county clerk, and judicial review is handled as a small-claims matter, which means homeowners don’t need an attorney.
