Although loan modification scams are typically initiated via phone or mail, at times the individuals running the scams go to the homes they are targeting.</p>
<p>Companies offer homeowners services to renegotiate their mortgage for an upfront fee, often one month&#8217;s mortgage payment or more. Homeowners may end up paying for work that could have been done for free by nonprofit organizations or loan-modification assistance programs, and in some cases pay for work that is not done at all.</p>

The Young Leaders United of United Way of Dutchess County are hosting an inaugural Touch a Truck event to be held on July 12, 2009. It will be take place at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY from 12PM-5PM. This event is a great chance for all members of the community to come together and have some great fun while supporting United Way. Families from throughout the county will be able to see, touch and photograph over 50 vehicles on display.
