Food Pantry Donations at the Messiah
Every week the Food Pantry at the Church of the Messiah (6436 Montgomery St.) provides emergency grocery help for residents of Rhinebeck and surrounding areas. Open Fridays between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the parish hall, the Pantry offers to all a warm, non-sectarian welcome. Last year the number of residents served by the Pantry more than doubled: currently over 170 households are registered, and food from the Pantry reaches more than 380 individuals, of which at least 120 are children..
Food donations from the public are always welcome, and may be dropped off either at the Starr Library during regular hours, or at the church office any weekday morning between 9:00 a.m. and noon. Oft-needed items include tuna, pancake mix, coffee, soap, shampoo, canned tomato products, peanut butter and jelly, but all foods are useful. In addition, money donations allow the Pantry to purchase food at reduced prices from the regional food bank; checks may be made out to the Church of the Messiah, with the notation “Food Pantry.”

I work in Rhinebeck, and, in fact, near this church……. It always amazes me when there is a blood drive or something like this and the local small businesses (not in the heart of town) don’t know about it and therefore can’t help! I am printing this for our bulletin board in our waiting room (MD office). Our patients are always interested in helping others ! I am sure we will be able to help the church out !
